Fume hoods play a vital role in keeping users safe from harmful chemicals and compounds. It’s important to test the face velocity of these hoods to ensure the exhaust flow is sufficient to draw harmful chemicals away from the user and out the exhaust system. Many of today’s fume hoods have face velocity monitors to allow the user to see the actual face velocity and alarm when an unsafe condition occurs. We recommend having fume hoods certified at least annually to make sure the monitor is calibrated. When we set up our customers on an annual certification program, we contact them yearly to set up recertification. Having your hoods certified on a regular basis is the most cost-effective approach.
